The Lake

Emy Lake is central to the local community, from fishermen to families. The lake supports fly-

fishing by permit and boat hire is available. A recently completed 4 kilometer walkway gives

visitors the opportunity to fully experience the calm atmosphere of the lake and its surrounding

scenery, while the bathing area facilitates a refreshing swim when Irish weather permits.

Hill Walking

Sliabh Beagh is steeped in Irish mythology, and the mountainous area stretching also to Fermanagh

and Tyrone includes around 30 looped walks varying in distance. A surveying view from Bragan

Bog uniquely captures Monaghan's reputation as the “drumlin county”.
